STULA PART FIVE: LAMPUNG I AM COMING!!!

My roommate was Okta, Wita and Fanny. We would stay in Arinnas Hotel for 2 nights. If I didn’t false, I was in the room number 6. It was in the room of first floor. There was a large single bed, an international quality bathroom with large TV. That was the real hotel!

I had to take a rest. Tomorrow, we had to move on to GGPC!

In the morning when we had to move to GGPC, we found that the location of GGPC was so far from the hotel. The hotel was is Bandar Lampung, while the estate was in Bandar Jaya. It was about 100 km, almost the same to the distance of Malang to Surabaya. Well, the committee (TL) misunderstood about the location of the estate. We would visit the estate, but the committee thought that we would visit the office which was located in the city. Come on! We were from agriculture faculty! Lol, we had to waste 2 hours on road. Okay, that’s fine.

GGPC (Great Giant Pineapple Company) is international estate. Many of the GGPC people graduate from The University of Brawijaya. That was so long story, when it was opened as estate for the first time. It was just need about 10 years from zero to become such GREAT COMPANY! Well let me tell you the large of the area was about 33.000 ha. The land was reddish and loamy, dust, but very porous. The atmosphere was so hot hot hot!!! But I can feel the different when I was in Lampung. The hot of lampung was because of the sun, it was not same to the hot in Malang, Surabaya, Jogja, Jakarta, that was hot because of the high content of CO₂.

I thought it was only me who felt the great admiration for the estate, but almost all of my friends felt the same! No wonder it was called GREAT COMPANY OF GIANT PINEAPPLE. The pineapple had the larger size than the common pineapple we see in the market. They said that Indonesians doesn’t like the fruit, but they keep plant it and export it. All the people want to build their own estate right now! Hahahaha

Well, we found not only pineapple but also some livestock and some cassavas. It was used for diversification and the effort to practice sustainable agriculture. Well, GGPC was so cool!!!

We made crazy parties and as it was reunion. The alumni promise us to provide the information about the job vacancy there.

it was late when we say good bye to them with the inexplicable feeling. Everybody was happy, everybody was satisfied. We went back to the hotel with great dream!
