Plant Breeding

Thanks for Mr. Andi for telling me the fun of my job!

Yesterday evening, while waiting for the weather to get clear, I had an easy conversation with him. It was about plant breeding.

"What kind of crop you prefer to focus on?" he opened the conversation

"Anything can be eaten, such as watermelon, melon, etc." I said

"Choose the marketable one, especially that has international market"

"...and why? Can we do our research abroad?"

"I will have trip to India next month. Our company always try to work up to be greater and making new partnership with other country. We have our office in India, Thailand, China, Japan, etc. firstly, we have to see the weather there. Choose the area where it has similarity to Indonesia. And then, see what kind of product which is marketable in that country so we can grow it here, read the genetic, and generate the better one. The final evaluation will be done in the targeted country, so we have to stay there and doing the final evaluation"
